4th of July Safety Tips
The 4th of July can be a great day to spend with family and friends, however, it can be dangerous for your pet. More pets get lost on the 4th of July than on any other day of the year. Keep your pets safe this Independence day with these 4th of July tips:
- Be sure your pet is wearing an up-to-date ID tag on their collar at all times. Consider getting your pet microchipped.
- Take a current photo of your pet just in case you get separated from them.
- Exercise your pet or play with your pet early in the day.
- Keep all charcoal, fireworks, sparklers and glow sticks away from curious pets.
- Keep treats on hand for guests to give to your pet to calm them down.
- Leave your pet at home in a safe space during the fireworks. Do not take them outside during this time. Turn on music or the television at home to counter some of the noise from the fireworks. Consider staying inside with your pet if they are especially skittish with loud noises.
